Dependent Student

For dependent students, a special circumstance is a situation that exists between the student applicant and his or her parent(s) which prevents the student from providing parental information.

Select “I will provide information about my parent(s)” to continue to the “Parent Marital Status” page if you’re completing an initial or renewal Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. If you’re correcting your FAFSA form, select “I will provide parental information” to continue to the “Parent Demographics – Corrections” page.

Select “I am unable to provide information about my parent(s)” if you’re completing an initial or renewal FAFSA form to get additional information about the impact of not providing parent information on your FAFSA form. If you’re correcting your FAFSA form, select “I am unable to provide parental information” to continue to the next available student page.
