Federal School Code

Federal School Code

This is question 101a, c, e, and g on the paper Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form.

If you don’t know a school’s Federal School Code, that’s okay—you can search for a school by selecting the state and entering the school’s name or city.

Enter the Federal School Code for the schools you’re interested in attending and select “Search.” If a match is found, it’ll display in the Search Results table. If the schools you were looking for display, select the checkbox to the left of each school you’d like to add to your FAFSA form. Then, select “Next” or “Add More Schools” to continue.

A Federal School Code is always six characters: 0 (zero), G, B, or E, and a five-digit number. For example, 003223 is the Federal School Code for the University of Oregon.
