How do you (the student) want to provide your signature?
The fastest way to sign your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form is electronically with your FSA ID. When you sign electronically, your application is processed within three to five days.
If you don’t have an FSA ID, create an FSA ID. It only takes a few minutes. You must have a Social Security number to get an FSA ID.
Having trouble signing with your FSA ID?
If you forgot your FSA ID username, retrieve your forgotten FSA ID username.
If you forgot your FSA ID password, reset your forgotten FSA ID password.
Make sure not to mix up your (the student’s) and your parent’s FSA IDs. Only sign for yourself. Don’t sign the FAFSA form for your parent using his or her FSA ID. Learn how you can check for FAFSA and FSA ID match errors.
There are two other, slower options to sign your FAFSA form:
- Print a signature page, sign it, and mail it to the address on the page. Your application will be processed once your signature page is received.
- Submit your FAFSA form without signatures. It’ll be partially processed, and you’ll receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) within three to five days. To complete your FAFSA form, you must return later to fafsa.gov and create an FSA ID to sign your application electronically, or sign and mail the SAR to the address listed.
