Tips for Searching for Federal School Codes

If you don't know your college's Federal School Code, select the school year for which you’re applying for federal student aid and the state where your college is located. Both fields are required.

You can also enter the city where the college is located and/or the college’s name. The city and name fields are optional, but they can help you narrow down your search results. You may enter the full city’s or college’s name or a common abbreviation. For example, “NYC” for New York City or “Virginia Tech” for Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Once you select the “Search” button, we’ll search our database and display your results in order by best match. You can re-sort the list in alphabetical order by school name.
